Katsy Artsy

Katsy Artsy was born in Almaty and still lives there. She never stops being amazed by her city: the mountains, the animals, the architecture and the people, each one different.

She doesn't tie herself to one medium. One day it's digital drawing, the next it's watercolour sketches outdoors or in a crowd, then ceramics, tufting, pastel, oil or acrylic. She chooses by feeling, and her motto is simple: you can.

In her posters you'll find snowy peaks, a cheerful snow leopard, a steppe horse and Nauryz, drawn with naive charm and bright, soft colour.

Sometimes I just pick up a brush and trust where my hand will lead me.

In her own words

Choosing a life in art opens a door to an incredible number of possibilities, and you are never bored there.

So I choose by feeling. I might draw digitally, go sketching with watercolours in nature or in busy places, work with ceramics or tufting, and then paint with pastels, oil or acrylic on canvas. And not only that.

My motto often sounds in my head: "You can!" Sometimes I work purposefully on a particular idea, and sometimes I simply pick up a brush and trust where my hand will lead me.

But maybe the main thing that won't leave me alone is how much beauty I see in the world around me. I have lived in Almaty since I was born, and I never stop being amazed and inspired by nature, animals, architecture and people, so different and unique. These are the impressions I put into my works.
